Honor Bands and Orchestras available for Hopkins Students

Fremont USD Jr. High School Honor Band

The FUSD Honor Band is made up of students selected from all Jr. High Schools in Fremont.  Students are selected by the director.  Rehearsals will be held in January and February.  The concert date is February 5, 2011.  More information will be made available to participating students as it becomes available.

Alameda County Jr. High Honor Band

The Alameda County Jr. High Honor Band is held each year at Chabot College in Hayward.  The rehearsals are 2 weekends in January, and the auditions take place in mid-December.  The music is similar to the CBDA All-State selections, and copies of the audition music may be obtained from Mr. Conway.  This is one of the best run honor bands, and Hopkins students are strongly encouraged to audition.  The performance this year is on Sunday, January 30, 2011.  See Mr. Conway for more information.

Northern California Band Association All-Northern Jr. High Honor Band

The NCBA All-Northern California Honor Bands are selected by audition.  Students are required to perform a pre-selected piece of music and submit a recording of their performance (this can be the same recording submitted for CBDA All-State, and students are strongly encouraged to send recordings to both).  Students chosen for this honor band must attend the NCBA Honor Band rehearsal/performance in Stockton, CA  on January 14-16, 2011.  Interested students should see Mr. Conway.  More information can be found at http://www.ncbaonline.org  and the audition music can be found at http://www.cbda.org, or from Mr. Conway. 

California Band Directors Association All-State Jr. High Honor Band

The CBDA All-State Honor Bands are selected by audition.  Students are required to perform a pre-selected piece of music and submit a recording of their performance.  Students chosen for this honor band must attend the CBDA conference in Fresno, CA  on February 17-20, 2011.  Interested students should see Mr. Conway.  More information can be found at http://www.cbda.org. 

CMEA Bay Section Jr. High Honor Band and Orchestra

The CMEA Bay Section Jr. High Honor Band and Honor Orchestra are selected from students submitted by band and orchestra directors in the S.F. Bay Area.  The concert for these ensembles is Saturday, January 15, 2011 at San Jose State University.  Interested students should see Mr. Conway as soon as possible for more information.
