How to Signup for Band/Chours

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR BAND AND ORCHESTRA

GENERAL INFO

Students signing up for 7th and 8th grade receive their pre-registration forms in late-February/Early March. On these forms you will see several options for band signups.

Please visit the Course Descriptions page to see which band your student is qualified for.

If your student is qualified for Symphonic or Concert Band, then you MUST contact Mr. Conway at gconway@fremont.k12.ca.us to receive more info and get your student's name on the master band list. If your student is not on that list, then they WILL NOT receive band, no matter if they sign up for it or not.

If your student would like to be in Beginning Band, then just listing that class as their first choice will assure their acceptance into the class, providing that space is available. ****This class will not be available in 2006-07!****

Piano/String Instrument experience DOES NOT substitute for band instrument experience. Please do not try to enroll your student in a band class based on non-band instrument expertise.

Symphonic/Concert Band

Make sure you have contacted Mr. Conway (gconway@fremont.k12.ca.us) and filled out a "Band Info Form". This way you can be placed into the correct band and will be on the master list for band students. Only students on this list will be able to sign up for these bands. Mr. Conway will let you know which band to sign up for.

2. On your student's registration sheet, find your band (Symphonic or Concert) and place a "1" next to that choice. YOU MUST place a "1" next to your assigned band or your student will not receive it in their schedule.

3. POTENTIAL SYMPHONIC BAND MEMBERS ONLY - Mr. Conway must sign your registration form before you turn it in. The office will require that you have Mr. Conway's signature for you to sign-up for Symphonic Band (This DOES NOT apply to Concert Band!).

Beginning Band and String Orchestra

1. On your students registration sheet, place a "1" next to Beginning Band or String Orchestra (whichever one you are signing them up for). You must have a "1" placed next to the class or you may not receive band/orchestra.

French Horn	Alto Saxophone
Tuba	Tenor Saxophone
Percussion	Baritone Saxophone

(NOTE: Percussion includes all drums, mallet and percussion instruments, NOT JUST DRUMS!)
